The following artifact is an overview of the classroom management plan I developed and followed throughout my student teaching. This plan includes specific techniques and strategies that I utilized to help keep each day running as smoothly as possible and so I would know exactly how I would respond to a variety of situations and challenges that I knew would inevitably arise while teaching nineteen Kindergarten students.
Some of these techniques, such as having students repeat the directions back to me before jumping into an activity or transition especially if there were multiple steps to the directions given) were preemptive efforts to avoid confusion and disorder in the classroom as much as possible. Other techniques are aimed at promoting efficiency so that I can move through all that I need to do with my students and simultaneously keep them engaged and interested. This plan also shows a variety of techniques that I developed discretion to utilize in appropriate contexts. By having this variety the management stratgies I choose to use didn't loose their effectiveness over time.
While my philosophy of education statement elaborates on my beliefs about essential compenents of an excellent educator, the classroom management plan overview I developed during student teaching delves into specific strategies I implemented during my time student teaching that helped me to be successful in this area.
